Old meets new in Edinburgh hotel

OlEdinburgh is well known for its scenic vistas and one bar has decided to take advantage of that fact.

The Glasshouse Hotel and Bar in Scotlands capital has been praised recently for its ability to help patrons relax following a hard day.

Perched on a rooftop overlooking the city, the bar offers unrivalled views, while the hotel offers similar benefits to guests.

Combining the very old with the very new, striking glazed architecture extends from the historic stone of the original building, which is situated next to the Edinburgh Playhouse theatre.

Describing the hotel, the Guardian said: "The Glasshouse offers a shady, lavender-scented haven away from the hustle of the streets below."

The design is certainly eye catching and those with an older home may use it as an example of how a new modern glazed extension could inject a bit of spice into the building.
