One of the main advantages of owning a greenhouse is that you can experiment with a variety of different plants. Gabriel Ash offers a selection of greenhouse and greenhouse accessories to suit your requirements. Successfully growing a selection of flowers in your greenhouse can be rewarding and will keep it looking bright and attractive.

In order to grow flowers in your greenhouse successfully, you will need to be aware of what they need in order to thrive. Different types of plants require different amounts of light, heat, water and different soil. Some plants require poor soil with high acidity, some need mineral enrichedsoil and other plants, such as exotic or desert type plants such as cacti, require plenty of heat and light.

Here are some tips on how to grow the perfect flowers in your greenhouse:

•    Experiment. There are many different types of flower to choose from, so experiment with different varieties to see what is right for you. If you are a beginner, then start out with a plant that requires less maintenance. Orchids are a great choice of plant, as they are not only attractive but some species are easy to care for.

•    Take cuttings. Many types of flowers will successfully grow in a greenhouse when you take cuttings from plants that you are already growing. Taking cuttings enables you to expand your collection of flowers and you also have the option of giving them to friends or family as a present or selling them. If a friend or family member is growing a particular type of flower that you love, then request a cutting. Cuttings can easily be kept in small containers on benches in your greenhouse and then moved to bigger pots once they have grown. You can then choose to keep them in your greenhouse, or move them into your garden.

•    Take care when growing from seed. One way to grow flowers in your greenhouse is from seed. However, when growing from seed, always check the growing instructions provided and take care if you are planning to order your flower seeds online. Certain types of flower seeds can be planted in your greenhouse at any time of year.

•    Research any flowers you are planning to grow. As different types of flower plants have different needs, you will need to research any plants that you are planning to grow. This will enable you to provide them with everything they need in order to thrive. Your greenhouse may need to be adapted to suit your plants. Make sure your greenhouse is well ventilated if you are planning to grow your flower plants in the summer. A well ventilated greenhouse will not only reduce the risk of problems with pests but also plant diseases. In winter, your greenhouse will keep your flowers protected from weather conditions such as frost, but you may need to add extra insulation.
With the right amount of care and attention, your greenhouse flower plants will thrive and will provide you with a bright and attractive greenhouse all year round.
