Growing food gives people a sense of satisfaction

According to marketing strategist at the National Society of Allotment and Leisure Gardeners Rakhi Arora, feeling involved in the production of food is very rewarding and it can be very cost-effective in light of recent grocery price hikes.

She spoke out ahead of National Allotments Week, which is aimed at raising awareness of the benefits that owning a piece of land can bring.

The event – which runs from August 8th until the 14th – is also supposed to give people the opportunity to showcase their gardening achievements.

“We are encouraging allotment sites to open their gates and invite people in so that they can have a look for themselves,” commented Ms Arora.

She also stated the occasion was meant to highlight the social side of running a plot, as well as the physical benefits of engaging in regular exercise
