In 2001 the RHS merged with the Northern Horticultural Society andacquired the Harlow Carr garden. Originally 26 acres of mixed woodland andarable land, Harlow Carr Gardenwas originally created to promote and develop the science, art and practice of horticulture within the North of England.
Today the site continues to uphold the same educationally centred ethos; among an impressive 68 acres, the garden has a variety of growing landscapes, from running and still water to woodland and wildflower meadows, and utilises these challenging landscapes through their teaching and apprenticeship programmes.
