Replacing the Full Autovent.

To remove the existing piston undo the M6 bolt on the side of the bracket that is attached to the ridge. This will allow the piston to drop and the flaps to close. If warm the tension in the springs will slam the vent shut so this is better done when the vents are closed on a cool day. Now remove the springs from the arms to which they are attached remembering how they are positioned as you will need to re-position these when the new piston is located.

Undo the fixings that attach the lower bracket to the ridge and replace this with the new bracket. Offer the new piston to the ladder frame ensuring the needle on the autovent points upward. The needle on the piston should locate into the hole in the top block which is already attached to the metal flap. Once located, the springs can be re-attached in the same positions as before.

Note - The new piston is pre-set in the workshop to the correct height, if you need to undo the nut on the side of the bracket to lower this piston you should mark the height at which to return it to prior to undoing.

Adjust your Autovent Cyclinder

Firstly, loosen the M6 bolt that secures the cylinder in place to release the pressure on the spring, taking care to do this gradually if the vent flap is open since it may slam shut. Adjust the piston assembly to suit your requirements, making sure that the piston rod is located in the top block, then secure the cylinder into the position by tightening the M6 bolt.

Note - You may find in warm conditions it is easier to position the needle and fix the cylinder if the cylinder is at a low temperature, perhaps having been cooled in a refrigerator.
