World Naked Gardening Day

On May 3rd, gardening enthusiasts and horticulturalists are encouraged to tend to their gardens naked and unclothed, as nature intended them to be.

World Naked Gardening Day (WNGD) is designed to raise money for Perennial, the Gardeners Royal Benevolent Society. One group of gardeners, aka The Grubby Gardeners, have already taken over the Roof Gardens in Kensington for a naked photo-shoot.

The Grubby Gardeners have launched a social media campaign asking people to post a selfie, naked or fully clothed to celebrate the WNGD, using the hashtag #gardeningselfie, and make a donation via test message (GRUB89 to 70070).

David Lewis of the Grubby Gardeners said; “Perennial support horticulturalists, young and old, who need support, advice and assistance in times of crisis. The charity is 175 years old, and yet not many people know about it.”

The initiative aims to raise £20,000.
