The Times follows garden regeneration

The Times newspaper has launched a series of articles following one correspondent who is hoping to resurrect her Cotswold garden after years of neglect.

Rachel de Thame – who has designed plenty of gardens herself and filmed and Kew and other great public gardens and greenhouses – moved with her husband Gerard to Oxfordshire six years ago.

However, she claims that her own gardening work has been confined to urban spaces previously, with London window boxes and rooftops among her personal spots.

The couples seven to nine acres of land of the edge of the Cotswolds will now be transformed, however, with both parties sharing an idea of what it is they want the space to become.

"Somewhere to stroll and sit, entertain our friends and watch our younger children, aged four and two, dig and delve while the two teenagers, 19 and 16, loll on the lawn," Ms De Thame said, according to the paper.

A greenhouse, sand pit and tree house have already been introduced, as has a herb garden.

According to the BBC website, Ms De Thame is a former model who presented her own series – Small Town Gardens – as well as being part of the Gardeners World team.
