Swedish museum an artwork

A Swedish museum has become somewhat of an exhibit itself due to its exceptional design.

The new Kalmar Museum is a four storey cube-shaped building clad in black and featuring a unique glazed design.

Architects Tham and Videgard Hansson Arkitekter designed the building with black wood cladding, and large glass openings, making it appear similar to a super size futuristic rubix-cube.

The museum is located in City Park in Kalmar and the design of the building adds another reason to visit its display of art.

It will host the Kalmar collection of modern art, while providing space for temporary exhibits.

As well as the interesting glazed and clad exterior, the building features an open spiral staircase that stretches right to the top of the building.

Made of concrete, the four floors are stacked on top of each other and are each unique in what they offer.

They lead to the fourth floor where the large glazed opening affords views of Kalmar castle, the lake and the city.
