Stick to the greenhouse this weekend

Brits planning to spend the bank holiday weekend fixing up their garden may wish to invest in some waterproofs.

According to predictions from the Met Office, the weather over Saturday and Sunday will be more suited to staying in the greenhouse than getting your hands dirty outdoors.

The forecast for today (April 30th) looks promising in the morning with dry and bright weather to begin with, but showers will begin to push in from the west and north as the day progresses.

This sets the tone for the weekend, with Saturday again starting off dry, before succumbing to cloudy skies in the north and eventually heavy and prolonged rain.

Scotland will have it slightly better, with dry and bright weather, although temperatures are set to be fairly low, meaning gardeners might have to wrap up a little.

Sunday will bring cold, wet and windy weather to much of the country, while Monday, although brighter and dryer, will be cold.

In other news, the Royal Horticultural Society recently reported that Alan Titchmarsh has been named president of Plant Heritage.
