Squeeze lime green into a garden for colourful results

Greenhouse enthusiasts should add a dash of lime green to their garden, an expert has suggested.

In an article for the Daily Mail, Constance Craig Smith said the shade is so striking it will "stop you in your tracks".

She went on to state that lime green fits beautifully with other colours and even improves them.

"It brings out the best in other shades: put it next to red, blue or crimson and they will appear more intense and it makes white or yellow seem softer," Ms Smith remarked.

She highlighted hellebores and heucheras as two varieties that can make a real difference, as well as "the gorgeous tree peony Dou Lu".
"Zinnia Envy is a favourite with flower arrangers and like chrysanthemums Froggy, Feeling Green and Green Mist, looks striking in front of orange dahlias or cannas," the expert added.

In a recent article for the same publication, Monty Don named lilies as a great way to brighten up a patio in 2011.
