Sports ground to build new conservatory

Users of a sports ground in Lancashire are soon to benefit from the use of a conservatory, it has been reported.

The Chatburn sports ground is set to undergo a £75,000 regeneration project that will include changing room upgrades and the addition of a kitchen and seating area for spectators, according to the Lancashire Telegraph.

With the existing facilities not having been upgraded since they were built in 1977, the Chatburn Village Committee decided it was time something was done and has raised £45,000 so far towards the project.

The ground plays host to Chatburn Cricket Club and Chatburn Football Club and the latter is considering starting up a junior team to help it access funds from the Football Foundation.

"Were about £30,000 short of our total target at the moment but weve had great support from the local community, including several anonymous donations which have been fantastic," committee grant-coordinator John Ridgway told the paper.

"We held a Twenty20 cricket day in the summer that was very popular and raised quite a bit."

The end result will be a facility with a brand new conservatory that can be enjoyed by all users of the sports ground.

A recent study found that almost half of homeowners thought they would make better use of their garden if they built a conservatory.
