Royal Horticultural Society Shows October To December

Just because winter is fast approaching, it doesn’t mean the Royal Horticultural Society stop in their tracks.

A wide variety of exciting autumn and winter shows are planned in the next few months, including harvest festivals and Christmas themed events.  

Here’s a quick breakdown;

The Malvern Autumn show, 24th – 25th Sept   

Enjoy a seasonal celebration of winter food, gardening and nostalgia at the Malvern Autumn show.

You’ll be greeted by a friendly welcome and more than 50 top exhibits where visitors can purchase the finest quality plants and garden grown foods.

Each year, the show provides a one-stop destination for gardeners in search of advice for preparing and restocking their gardens for the winter months.

It’s also home to the UK National Giant Vegetables Championship, which promises to return bigger and better than ever before.

2016 saw a bumper crop of three world record breaking Giant Vegetables including the world’s longest beetroot, heaviest cucumber and heaviest leek – and this years show promises to be just as exciting.

RHS London Harvest Festival show, 4th – 5th October  

What better way to celebrate harvest season with the RHS’s Giant Pumpkin and Autumn Fruit and Vegetable competition? It’s always a friendly and welcoming atmosphere (despite the competitiveness)  

There will also be a wealth of information on growing, harvesting and using garden produce, as well as a wide variety of apples and chillis to taste and buy.

Unusual displays include vegetable chandeliers from Pennard Plants, and the London and Overseas area of NAFAS will be providing a hanging backdrop to the show.

New exhibitors to the show include: Seedlip’s distilled non-alcoholic spirits; The Orchard Project, with a display on the work they do restoring and planting orchards across London; Capital Growth, London’s largest food-growing network, helping everyone growing food in London; Priestland Birch and Riverford Organics

Tuesday’s show will also go on a little later in to the evening, with music, pumpkin carving, apple bobbing and delicious cocktails on offer.

London Shades of Autumn show, 28th – 29th October 

This year’s show will be packed full of inspirational planting ideas to extend the gardening season, with stands providing advice on plants ideal for autumn interest.

Some highlights of the show include:

  • The Shades of Autumn ornamental competition
  • Judged plant displays from some of the UK’s top nurseries
  • The opportunity to buy the best plants, gardening accessories and sundries.
  • Flower arranging and willow-weaving workshops for children and adults… and much, much more.

RHS London Urban Garden show 

This year, RHS Lindley Hall will host the very first RHS London Urban Garden Show. This new event will be the perfect place to browse and buy plants from some of the country’s best plant growers, including citrus, olives, chillis and exotic ornamental plants. Yum!

You’ll also get chance to ask the experts about caring for your plants whatever your level of knowledge, and get cultivation tips on keeping them healthy all year round.

In addition, you’ll be able to check out plant accessories to create an impressive display from some of London’s hottest new horticultural brands.

RHS London Christmas show , 17th – 18th December 

The RHS London Christmas Show is a new addition to the RHS Show’s calendar for December 2016.

This show is the perfect place to complete any last-minute Christmas shopping, allowing you to buy interesting plants and sundries which will make the best present for the avid gardener.

There will also be a santa’s grotto for the kids, plenty of interesting displays and talks from some of the world’s best known horticulturists.
