Just because winter is fast approaching, it doesn’t mean the Royal Horticultural Society stop in their tracks.
A wide variety of exciting autumn and winter shows are planned in the next few months, including harvest festivals and Christmas themed events.
Here’s a quick breakdown;
The Malvern Autumn show, 24th – 25th Sept
Enjoy a seasonal celebration of winter food, gardening and nostalgia at the Malvern Autumn show.
You’ll be greeted by a friendly welcome and more than 50 top exhibits where visitors can purchase the finest quality plants and garden grown foods.
Each year, the show provides a one-stop destination for gardeners in search of advice for preparing and restocking their gardens for the winter months.
It’s also home to the UK National Giant Vegetables Championship, which promises to return bigger and better than ever before.
2016 saw a bumper crop of three world record breaking Giant Vegetables including the world’s longest beetroot, heaviest cucumber and heaviest leek – and this years show promises to be just as exciting.
RHS London Harvest Festival show, 4th – 5th October
What better way to celebrate harvest season with the RHS’s Giant Pumpkin and Autumn Fruit and Vegetable competition? It’s always a friendly and welcoming atmosphere (despite the competitiveness)
There will also be a wealth of information on growing, harvesting and using garden produce, as well as a wide variety of apples and chillis to taste and buy.
Unusual displays include vegetable chandeliers from Pennard Plants, and the London and Overseas area of NAFAS will be providing a hanging backdrop to the show.
New exhibitors to the show include: Seedlip’s distilled non-alcoholic spirits; The Orchard Project, with a display on the work they do restoring and planting orchards across London; Capital Growth, London’s largest food-growing network, helping everyone growing food in London; Priestland Birch and Riverford Organics
Tuesday’s show will also go on a little later in to the evening, with music, pumpkin carving, apple bobbing and delicious cocktails on offer.
London Shades of Autumn show, 28th – 29th October
This year’s show will be packed full of inspirational planting ideas to extend the gardening season, with stands providing advice on plants ideal for autumn interest.
