RHS to rekindle love for trees and shrubs

Garden and greenhouse enthusiasts who find they have become caught up in caring for their herbaceous perennials have been encouraged to head to the Royal Horticultural Societys (RHS) Garden Wisley.

The organisations woody plant committee is set to host Rediscovering Trees and Shrubs, which should help growers find their love for larger greenery once more.

Taking place on August 5th, the workshop will feature Chelsea Flower Show winning designer Arabella Lennox-Boyd, Hillier Nurseries and Garden Centres managing director Andrew McIndoe and landscape architect Janie Burford.

Green-fingered Brits wishing to attend will be asked to pay £20.50 – or £11 for RHS members – which includes entry to Garden Wisley, as well as tea and coffee on arrival.

The idea behind the event is to reintroduce garden and greenhouse owners to the joys of trees and shrubs, with Ms Burford discussing lessons learned from the past, Ms Lennox-Boyd giving a talk on the modern use of trees and Mr McIndoe highlighting hard-working varieties.

Meanwhile, the RHS recently noted that a hosepipe ban has been slapped on gardeners in the north-west of England.
