RHS show coming up at Garden Harlow Carr

The Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) is preparing to hold its Spring Plant Fair at Garden Harlow next month.

A range of plants, flowers and grasses will be on sale from over 30 UK nurseries and staff will be on hand to distribute advice where necessary.

Taking place from 10:00 until 16:00 BST on Sunday May 3rd, the fair precedes another RHS event – Everything You Need to Know About Rhododendrons.

Gardeners can delve into specialists knowledge about the species over the weekend of May 9th and 10th at Garden Harlow Carr.

The Spring Plant Fair is an important occasion in that it should help with the conservation of garden varieties, according to the sites manager Dean Peckett.

"In the future we may well need to refer back to older plant varieties should modern ones fall prey to climate change or introduced pests and diseases," he predicted.

Mr Peckett added venues like Garden Harlow Carr were vital "banks" of older species.
