RHS offers more drought advice

The Royal Horticultural Society has offered more advice on how to deal with drought. Earlier this month, the society said that it would be offering gardeners drought advice at the Great London Plant Fair. Gardeners were also given expert advice in other areas of gardening.

The society’s advisory team said that “gardeners of all skill-levels will have the opportunity to consult the RHS Advisory Team, which will be on hand at the show to provide information on what to plant, as well as watering alternatives”.

The RHS has advised gardeners to use drought-tolerant plants, water retaining plants and mulches in order to deal with drought.

Stephanie Eynon, community horticultural manager, said: “We’re not aware of any community gardening groups pulling out of Britain in Bloom as a result of the drought. Our volunteers are resourceful.”
