Rain doesnt ruin event

Gardeners in Watford enjoyed one of the towns biggest annual gardening events recently according to the local newspaper.

The Watford Observer reported that the Abbots Langley Gardening Societys 59th annual show was a hailed as a huge success by the societys members.

Despite poor weather in the run-up to the event, fine weather on the day allowed visitors to enjoy the displays of roses, vegetables and paintings at the show, which has taken place annually since 1949.

"We really did not know how many of the entries would turn up due to the very bad weather during the previous week," explained society member Jane Lay.

"Luckily most of the dahlias and flowers arrived and the society had a superb show."

Ms Lay described the entries as highly impressive and suggested that next year would be an even bigger success.

"As I am sure with all shows, this year our exhibits were down and the judges were very pleased with the quality of the produce."

Gardeners have had a tough time with the rain this summer, but those with a greenhouse will have been able to gain an advantage over the competition at this years events.
