New plans for the UKs skylines

A famous architect from South America is set to transform the UKs skylines, starting with his newest building in Leicester.

The Curve performing arts centre opens in November 1st and is a testament to the use of glass in signature architecture.

Swooshing around half a city block will be the striped glass facade of the new building that is just one of a number of projects that Rafael Vinoly has underway in the UK.

The Latino architect is also responsible for the famed Walkie Talkie skyscraper in London, as well as the third attempt to revive and remodel the world-famous Battersea Power Station.

The Walkie Talkie is set to reach an impressive 525 feet and will be completely rounded and clad in glass.

Mr Vinolys passion for using glass in his work follows a very noticeable trend, both in the UK and across the world.

Recently, two competing developers in the United Arab Emirates have been embroiled in a race to complete the new worlds largest building, with both projects set to breach the one kilometre high mark.

Britain isnt without its own glazed masterpieces though. The Gherkin has attracted world-wide acclaim and joins the skyscrapers of Canary Wharf in defining part of East Londons skyline.
