Mississippi Greenhouse enthusiasts encouraged to step up learning

Garden and greenhouse enthusiasts in the Adams County area of Mississippi have been encouraged to attend the upcoming Master Gardener classes.

The programme begins later this month and helps horticulture fans to become more adept at their hobby, the Natchez Democrat reported.

The Adams County Master Gardeners held their first class nine years ago and the organisation now has more than 50 members.

Attendees must complete 40 hours of training and a further 40 hours of gardening experience, with a number of projects available.

Growers will pick up skills and knowledge of botany, soils, weeds, propagation, diseases and much more.

They can then gain experience by helping out at local schools teaching pupils the basics of growing their own plants and food.

Mississippi Master Gardeners offers the initial 40 hours of training for free in exchange for the supplemental 40 hours of voluntary work.
