Met Office issues heat health warning

Brits with gardens and conservatories may be wishing they could spend more time there next week, after the Met Office issued a heat health warning.

Experts predicted a very warm week indeed, with temperatures expected to breech the 30 degrees C (86 degrees F) mark in some areas.

The hottest day of the year so far was yesterday (June 25th) at Heathrow Airport, where it reached 28 degrees C.

However, Met Office chief forecaster Andy Page believes that will be beaten in the coming days.

"The very warm conditions will last well into next week, with the hottest days of the summer so far and a 60 per cent chance of reaching 32 degrees C," he said.

In some areas of England and Wales, night time temperatures will fail to fall below 18 degrees C, while Scotland and Northern Ireland will not miss out on the good weather.

Brits spending the next week in their conservatory and garden may wish to heed the Met Offices advice of taking cool showers or baths to reduce body temperature if overheating.
