Keukenhof Showcasing The Netherlands

The Keukenhof, The Netherlands most famous and most beautiful gardens are in bloom right now. Set in the heart of Holland’s “Dune and Bulb” region, south west of Amsterdam, the Keukenhof dates back to 1949, when gardening enthusiasts decided to hold an annual exhibition here to showcase their wares.

Presented across 79 acres of meandering gardens, sculptures and ponds, the Keukenhof claims to be the most beautiful spring garden in the world. A kaleidoscopic world of flowers can be found here from the traditional Dutch tulips, narcissi and hyacinths to dazzling orchids and azaleas.

Additionally, themed exhibits such as The Zocher Garden, The Historic Garden and the Inspiration Gardens will wow and educate in equal measure. The overarching theme of this year’s show is the United Kingdom – The Land of Great Gardens, with the highlight being a 60,000 flower mosaic of Tower Bridge and Big Ben.

The Keukenhof is only open between March and May each year, but admission is free, with guided tours by enthusiastic volunteers. Next time you visit Holland, place the Keukenhof high on your list of activities.
