Insurer launches glazing spin-off

Glazed structures may soon be insured using a policy from the newly formed UK Glazing Network (UKGN), it has emerged.

The organisation has recently been launched by the UK Drainage Network (UKDN), reports insurance industry publication Post Magazine.

Such action has been taken in response to the assertion from UKGN that insurance claims relating to windows, glass doors and conservatories present the second-largest segment of the market in the UK.

Paul Wozencroft, supply chain director at UKDN, is now to take control over the newly formed business.

He explains that a "holistic approach" is to be taken to providing insurance for glass structures and units.

Post Magazine adds that a statement from UKGN reads: "A highly experienced team of glazing specialists has been put in place to handle claims for damaged garage doors, windows, doors, glass, locks and conservatories."

The news follows the creation of new strategic roles by UKDN in September 2007 in an attempt to facilitate future expansion.
