How to get some unusual seeds
Gardeners planning what to grow in their greenhouses and gardens this year may wish to have a look through some specialist seed catalogues to find some unusual choices, according to the Times.
A greenhouse allows gardeners more freedom to experiment with seeds that wouldnt ordinarily grow in UK soil.
The newspaper offers advice on a number of catalogues that it believes gardeners may like to have a look at, including Chiltern Seeds.
With around 4,500 varieties, the Barrow-in-Furness-based company offers gardeners one of the widest ranges around.
Another good seed firm is Simpsons Seeds, which the newspaper recommends as a good source of vegetable seeds.
It stocks over 70 varieties of chilli pepper and 90 kinds of tomato while still offering a personal service.
Gardeners can also source seeds straight from the Royal Horticultural Societys (RHS) garden centres.
The RHS website offers a seed distribution service that sends seeds all over the world.
