Guerrilla Gardening

Guerrilla gardening is the new craze amongst eco-warriors and artists in London.

Using seed balls – or seed grenades – green fingered enthusiasts are literally just finding any area of exposed ground and property, for the sheer joy of and defiance of it all.

These seed grenades are simply lumps of clay, filled with the seeds of wildflowers, which will sprout anywhere. The clay is to prevent the seeds being eaten by birds and critters. This tradition apparently harks back to Native American’s who sowed their corn in this way, in order to protect the kernels.

If you don’t feel compelled to hit the streets and do your own bit of guerrilla gardening, then why not do it at home? If you are not necessarily a keen gardener, or you are just not inclined to have your garden all straight lines and flower beds, this is the perfect way to add a bit of colour to your life, without having to do any of the hard work.
