Green learning centre almost complete

Garden and greenhouse enthusiasts may be interested to learn that the work on the Royal Horticultural Societys learning centre at Garden Harlow Carr is almost complete.

The facility is designed to be as eco-friendly as possible in an attempt to tie in with the sites already green credentials.

According to the Yorkshire Post, the Harrogate-based horticultural attraction is set to feature automatic lighting and windows, as well as wool-insulated walls.

Furthermore, a wind turbine will be used to power the building and no energy will go to waste, with excess sold back to the national grid.

RHS education officer Debbie Hanslip explained that the organisation needed more classroom space.

"We have wanted a brand new centre for a long time, but its hard to believe that we are so close to actually moving in," she told the newspaper.

She added that the large windows on the centre will give learners the impression of being in the garden.

Meanwhile, Halesowen News has revealed that Lutley Primary School has earned an award for its wildlife garden.
