Garden and greenhouse site offers botanical trip

A garden and greenhouse body is holding a competition to give away a holiday to a growing enthusiast.

The Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) is offering the chance to win a long weekend exploring the botanical sites of France.

Included in the prize is €200 (£181) in spending money and the use of a Renault Modus to help get between garden attractions.

Winners will be given free entry to the sites and provided with accommodation, a free tank of fuel and their ferry crossing to Normandy.

Some of the gardens recommended by the RHS include the romantic Parc et Jardins de Chateau Dacquigny and the historic Arboretum dHarcourt.

Eight runners-up will also win a Parker pen and pencil set worth £40, with the results being revealed in January.

The RHS revealed earlier this month that it had appointed Gordon Seabright as deputy director-general – news that followed that of director-general Inga Grimsey leaving.
