For the Love of Honeysuckle…

Since this is my first blog post, I will start by introducing myself.

I have been designing gardens for over 30 years – it was originally a way of working part-time while my children were small, and has developed over time into a business that takes up most of my life.

Apart from my work, I love walking, riding, sailing, art, cooking…

Tony, my partner, and I have a lovely Cockerpoo called Meg.

Based in the Leeds area, work has been plentiful. The gardens I have worked with have been small to medium-sized town or village gardens. I love to see projects through to completion and frequently keep in touch with my clients as their gardens grow.

12 months ago we moved to a village near Pateley Bridge, in Nidderdale. I can hardly believe that I live in such a glorious place – it is a landscape of rivers, hills, lush pastures, woodlands and moors.

The walking around here is fabulous. One of my favourite places is Guisecliffe Wood, which is an ancient woodland and part of a SSSI, on the south side of the river Nidd near Pateley Bridge. The trees are mainly oak, birch and holly. It has been wonderful to explore the wood over the last year, seeing how it changes through the seasons. Last month it was the bluebells that took my breath away, and now it is the honeysuckle and the foxgloves. Mother Nature has a lot to teach us!
