Eco-friendly conservatories some of UKs most high-profile attractions

The eco-friendly conservatories that are an integral part of the Eden Project in Cornwall help to make it one of Britains top days out.

A list of the best UK days out which cater for people with disabilities from the Rough Guide to Accessible Britain featured in the online pages of the Times ranks the Eden Project as the number one destination.

It notes that the glazed canopies of the conservatories – known as Biomes – allow a diverse range of the globes plant life to be showcased.

Additionally, an ice rink with a special ice-chair is also featured at the site at various points throughout the year, allowing wheelchair users to enjoy the skating experience.

"Participation of disabled children and adults is encouraged at all special events and a wheelchair-accessible platform is available at concerts and exhibitions," the excerpt notes.

The Eden Project notes that one of its biomes is the largest greenhouse in the world.
