Dont grow a daffodil, grow a Duffydil
While she may have had a hit with Rain on your Parade, Duffy will be hoping that no one rains on hers after the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) decided to honour the pop singer by renaming a flower after her.
The pint-sized songstress chose a variety of daffodil – the national emblem of her home country Wales – as her species of choice and was delighted to hear the RHS had agreed to call it the Duffydil.
RHS show director Stephen Bennett said he was hopeful that the Grammy Award-winner would be able to attend the societys Cardiff show to launch the newly-named variety.
The show takes place between April 17th and April 19th and is the first large-scale event of the year for the RHS.
After being given the news, the bubbly singer, who has had hits with Mercy and Warwick Avenue, could barely hide her delight.
"The Duffydil! Brilliant! Maybe now I can forgive myself for stealing them from peoples gardens," she exclaimed.
