Dig The City 2014

Manchester’s urban gardening festival, Dig the City, will return for 2014 after the success of last year’s event which saw thousands flock to the attraction.

The festival will be headlined by TV gardener Diarmuid Gavin who will give a range of talks on urban gardening and landscape design. It will feature a range of activities, displays and workshops to help inspire the people of Manchester.

Taking place in August, exhibitors will include Tatton Park’s gardening team, who will be running workshops on how to make a traditional Japanese dry garden. Additionally, Friends of the Earth and Manchester School of Art will also be in attendance.

Children’s activities include a National Trust treehouse in Exchange Square and a giant family picnic in Piccadilly Gardens.

Last year saw more than a million people visit the festival, with organisers expecting similar numbers this year. Most events will be free to attend.
