Deer can be a right pest in the garden

According to Gardeners’ World’s Richard Jones, writing in his blog, those with greenhouses have a difficult balancing act between wanting to encourage and see nature in their gardens and suffering potential consequences of the creatures’ visits.

Mr Jones said that people should embrace the likes of sparrowhawks and magpies in their gardens but an increasing number of deer in the country are becoming a major problem.

“Deer can be a right pest in the garden, elegant and beautiful though they are. For the last few decades, deer numbers have been increasing almost unchecked,” he added.

Recently Mr Jones said that not enough landscape architects are making new gardens brown enough to encourage wildlife on to people’s patches which is seeing a desecration of some of the UK’s wildlife’s natural habitat
