Dame Kiri Te Kanawa to perform at greenhouse attraction

World-renowned soprano singer Dame Kiri Te Kanawa is set to wow crowds at a popular UK greenhouse attraction next year.

The 2010 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Garden Wisley Music Festival will welcome the Kiwi star on its opening night.

Running from June 10th, the three-day event will also play host to two tribute bands, while the rest of the line-up is yet to be announced.

Dame Kiri, who was born in New Zealand, was already a celebrated recording artist by the time she turned 20.

Having won just about every accolade possible in the South Pacific, she went on to perform at some of the worlds top opera houses and is now a global star.

Attendees can expect to hear the songstress sing tunes from Tosca, Der Rosenkavalier and even Bernsteins West Side Story.

Those who wish to get really close to the stage will be able to buy Gold Circle tickets for the 2010 event, which also allow them access to a special lakeside picnic area.

In other news, the greenhouse attraction is lighting up its gardens, glasshouses and plants with a spectacular illuminations display until January 3rd.
