Covent Garden Market in bloom

Green-fingered enthusiasts looking for a horticultural day out over the next few weeks could well be tempted to visit Covent Garden Markets Spring Renaissance, which is taking place until mid-May.

Noted floral sculptor Preston Bailey has fashioned a unique installation of two 25-foot high peacocks made entirely of living plants and flowers on the sites east piazza.

The sites hanging baskets will also receive a makeover at the hands of designer Cozmo Jenks.

And if the artwork leaves visitors feeling inspired then they can head to the west piazza to make some horticultural purchases as the area will be turned into a flower market every weekend throughout the event.

With talks from naturalist David Bellamy and garden furniture expert David Meddings also due to take place, this is an event that no gardening fan can afford to miss.

Meanwhile, the Royal Horticultural Society Chelsea Flower Show is due to take place at the Royal Hospital in Chelsea from May 20th – 24th.
