Country park awarded for gardens

Oakwell Hall Country Park has been decorated with Yorkshire in Bloom 2008s Silver Gilt Award.

Following on from the Birstall parks recent Green Flag success, it was awarded the Silver Gilt in its first year in the competition.

"Oakwell is an impressive country estate with a very good example of a Tudor period garden being developed at the back of the Hall," the judges commented.

"The open countryside surrounding the Hall is well maintained with points of interest around every corner and there are some very good examples of wild flower meadows which are planned to be harvested for their seed."

The parks floral displays and landscape gardening are particularly impressive features and gardeners will no doubt take pleasure in taking inspiration from the park.

Those who are inspired by the beauty of the parks gardens may consider investing in a greenhouse to help recreate the natural beauty in their own garden.
