Conservatories part of sustainable development

A new sustainable housing estate features conservatories as standard on a number of its properties, it has been revealed.

Eton Green, currently under construction by Barratt Homes, includes three-storey townhouses extended further by way of a conservatory.

Open-plan living space is complemented by a separate kitchen in the style known as The Chestnut – one of 13 layouts used on the site.

The development is said to be particularly suitable for first-time buyers thanks to its inclusion of en suite bathrooms.

Barratt Homes suggests that these make it easier to rent out spare rooms in order to help fund the purchase as a step on to the housing ladder.

Should a homeowner find their needs grow in the future, a kitchen extension might be a good way of adding to the space provided in one of the properties.

Isobel McKenzie-Price, editor of Ideal Home magazine, recently told the Guardian that kitchen extensions are now typical of the types of projects being undertaken by Britons.
