Competition winners to use savings to pay for conservatory

A family who won a competition to have their mortgage paid for a year are set to invest their savings in a glazed extension for their four bedroom home.

Louise Wilding won the £500 per month prize without even realising shed entered but was delighted to hear that will now help out with her mortgage for the next 12 months, according to the St Albans and Harpenden Review.

"The competition didnt even register with me when Id filled out the form," she told the newspaper, describing how she had automatically been entered when she filled out an application to remortgage her home.

"When I got the phone call, the lady congratulated me saying Im the winner of the competition and I sort of said, what competition?

"Winning the competition has meant a fantastic start to the year."

Mrs Wilding will now benefit from a £6,000 saving on her mortgage and is set to save up for a conservatory to help her enjoy her garden.

A surge in home improvement can be expected over the coming months, with recent figures from showing that first-time buyers are being priced out of the housing market meaning homeowners are suffering from a lack of potential buyers.
