Californian growers get water conservation tips

Californian garden and greenhouse enthusiasts were recently able to get tips on how to grow plants that are kind to the environment.

According to the Mount Helix Patch, the Water Smart Gardening Festival took place at the Water Conservation Garden on Saturday (November 13th) and saw visitors given tips on a number of horticultural issues.

Garden design, plant selection, composting, garden maintenance, soils, water conservation and water recycling were just some of the topics on the agenda.

A variety of southern California garden companies were in attendance at the event, which also featured face painting for kids, as well as classes about dinosaurs to keep them entertained.

Those wishing to visit the Water Conservation Garden can do so between 09:00 and 16:00 local time seven days a week.

A special Holiday in the Garden event is set to run at the site on December 3rd and 4th for those who missed the last celebration.

In other news, Encore Online recently published some gardening tips from EcoLife writer Evan Folds.
