Californian gardeners set for educational event

Californian garden and greenhouse enthusiasts could expand their knowledge this weekend by attending an event at Vintage High School.

According to the Napa Valley Register, the University of California Master Gardeners of Napa County is set to host an educational event.

The organisation will present Get Growing, Gardening for Everyone in conjunction with the Regional Occupational Programme and the Vintage Vegetable Gardening project.

Beginning at 08:30 local time on Saturday (April 10th), the event will contain classes in rose growing, soil and mulch care and application and gardening for the busy person, among other subjects.

The cost is $10 and those who register before Thursday will be given a free lunch cooked by the schools culinary students.

On the menu is minestrone soup, garden frittata, salads and cookies, meaning that not only will attendees pick up a range of great horticulture tips, they will also leave well fed.

Meanwhile, the Bend Bulletin has suggested that growers should examine flowers for bugs before cutting them and bringing them indoors.
