Brixton gardens to open to the public next week

Artist Caddy Sitwell and Vogue journalist Daisy Garnett will show off the back gardens of their Georgian villas next week, Francine Raymond wrote in the Daily Telegraph.

The space occupied by the two areas used to be the orchard of Brockwell Park when it was a country mansion and Brixton was a village outside the main metropolis, she explained.

Ms Garnett’s garden features a drooping mulberry that was regenerated after being felled during a hurricane.

Next door, Ms Sitwell’s is full of tomato and basil plants plus plenty of flowers in her well-ordered greenhouse.

“Over the wall, Caddy’s garden is edgier, contrasting colours and modern planting with royal blue Iris sibirica, purple pom pom alliums and grasses,” Ms Raymond added.

The expert went on to point out that the NGS gave out £2.6 million to beneficiary charities and people wishing to apply can do so through the organisation’s website
