Books to get kids interested in gardening

The online resource noted that four children’s books had been recognised as being great for promoting healthy eating at the 2010 National Children and Youth Garden Symposium in Pasadena, California.

The Growing Good Kids – Excellence in Children’s Literature Award is designed to reward authors who have focused on changing the lifestyles of children.

Garden and greenhouse enthusiasts could buy their children the winning titles, which include Peter Brown’s The Curious Garden and Our Shadow Garden by Cherie Foster Colburn, as a means of getting them interested in growing their own food.

This can be developed into knowledge which will serve them well for the rest of their lives and can be passed on to the next generation.

In other news, Vail Daily has revealed that a greenhouse growing project at Brush Creek Elementary in Colorado has been teaching kids how to grow their own grub.
