BBC to Host Gardening Season

The BBC has announced that that it is to run a series of garden programmes on its BBC4 channel this spring.

Beginning in mid-April, the gardening season will focus on heritage gardens, suburban gardens, bees, soil and mushrooms.

Famous gardens due to appear in the British Gardens in Time show include Great Dixter, Stowe, Biddulph Grange and Nyman. The show will feature contributions from National Trust head gardener Alan Power in conjunction with Chris Beardshaw and Andrea Wulf.

Historian Michael Collins will give a potted history of suburban gardening, whilst Martha Kearney will tackle the pressures surrounding beekeeping, in four hour-long shows. Meanwhile, Professor Richard Fortey will present a programme on fungi, and Chris Beardshaw will return for what promises to be an illuminating programme about soils.

Additionally the BBC has re-commissioned The Great British Garden Revival.
