Avant-Gardening 2014

The RHS Young Designer of the Year competition returns for its sixth year in 2014. The competition will give young gardeners a chance to kick start a career in the gardening business.

The design theme of this year’s competition will focus on pushing boundaries or “Avant-Gardening” if you prefer. It is hoped the theme will encourage invention, new techniques and new techniques.

The competition will allow young gardener designers to make their Show Garden debut and gain exposure at the prestigious RHS show. Successful designs will receive a grant of £12,000.

2013 winner Tony Woods, who runs his own garden design and build company, The Garden Club London, won with a conceptual garden named “Escape to the City”, where Tony conveys how you can achieve tranquillity and escape in an urban garden.

The deadline for applications is 31st January 2014, whilst the winner will be announced at RHS Flower Show Tatton Park on the 23rd-27th July 2014.
