2013 gardening trends revealed

It’s wonderful to read a report that says that 2013 is going to be a fun year for gardeners.  Ed Cumming writes in The Telegraph of his predictions for gardening trends for this year and, for once, it’s not all doom and gloom.

That’s not to say that he doesn’t recognise the realities – we all know about the rain!  But he does get the balance.

He expects that gardeners will still be under the influence of the wildflower meadow showcased at the Olympic Park in 2012.  Marketing-orientated seed suppliers have taken advantage of this by offering targeted mixes such as those for beginners, flower arrangers and pollinators.

Matthew Appleby predicts that busy people will be drawn to instant gardening and plants like the fast-growing tree lilly will gain ground.

It seems that the ‘Good Life’ will take a greater hold as gardeners continue to compost and grow their own food, particularly herbs and salads with even a bit of wild gardening with edible hedges and planting for wildlife.
