Top gardeners Easter days out revealed

Greenhouse enthusiasts looking for a great day out may be interested in one expert’s tips this Easter.

Writing in the Daily Telegraph, horticulture expert Tony Russell listed some of his favourite gardens in the UK.

Armadale on the Isle of Skye was the first to be mentioned, with its 40-acre site and spectacular range of shrubs, bulbs and tress from around the world.

Similarly, Borwood in Wiltshire is home to "one of the finest spring displays in Britain".

"Covering 60 acres and surrounding a Palladian mausoleum designed by Robert Adam in 1762, this garden offers a masterclass in how to grow Asian rhododendrons," he explained.

Dorothy Clive Garden in Shropshire also warranted a mention, with its superb spring bulbs and carpet of bluebells a sure-fire treat for any green-fingered soul.
