A survey has revealed one in five men use the garden shed as safe haven from family arguments – a place to get some peace and quiet away from the family.
The survey, compiled by Cuprinol, woodcare product manufacturer also found that the British public loves their sheds, with 65% professing to own one, and 49% saying they would be “lost” without one. One in ten of respondents even confess to preferring to spend time in the shed than with their family!
The national average for the cost of a shed is £396, with London topping the pile with £508. Kathryn Ledson of Cuprinol believes this survey highlights the important of the garden shed;
“It is clear that sheds are vital to the British identity and they are an inspiration to so many of us”
A study conducted by Leeds Metropolitan University in 2011 found that sheds help combat stress, lowers blood pressure, and even boosts confidence.
