Summer houses remain popular

Summer houses – which could be used for a number of purposes, such as garden offices or garden studios – are a popular investment, an expert asserts.

Joe Swift, presenter of the BBC television programme Gardeners World, explains that such garden investments are often used to add value to a property.

He explains that it may well be wise to seek the advice of a specialist designer in such matters as they can often provide inspiration as well as concept sketches.

Mr Swift continues: "Have something that looks like its been well designed rather than plonked in, which is what a lot of amateurs tend to do in the garden."

Concluding, he notes that any additions to the home and garden should be "simple" and "classic" in their style.

Meanwhile, research recently carried out by financial services provider Lloyds TSB suggested that sun houses are among the top ten most popular items on a garden wish list.
