Special needs gardening team “over the moon” with award

The special needs nursery won the best garden for special needs category at the event in which Huntingdon lost its overall winners crown from last year to Bedford.

Bryan Bowles from the Huntingdonshire Community Nursery told Cambridge News: “We are over the moon. It’s a very good achievement as it was derelict for six years and now it is improving all the time.”

Among the other winners was Hinchingbrooke Hospital’s garden restoration which won the best community project, while the Greenhouse Project in St Ives won a nomination in the best drought-sustainable garden category.

The Greenhouse Project in St Ives is aimed at educating people how properties can be refurbished affordably and easily to help reduce carbon emissions as well as making them more efficient and cheaper to run
