Small kids, huge vegetables

Primary school children have been putting adult gardeners to shame with their massive produce.

The pupils from Singleton Primary School have been trying their hardest to grow the largest vegetables possible and will enter a competition this weekend with the resultant produce.

The Sussex school pupils will enter the Valley Gardening Clubs Cornucopia event on Sunday October 19th at the village hall.

Interested gardeners who get there by 9.15 am will be able to have the first glimpse of the huge veg, which include a giant pumpkin, grown just in time for Halloween.

The competition will begin at 10.30 am and prizes will be distributed by none other than the Duchess of Richmond Sarah Wain.

Hungry visitors can tuck into bangers and buns around mid-morning in what will no doubt be an exciting day of gardening exhibition.

Gardeners may be able to pick up some tips from the youngsters on how to grow their own super-sized veg in their greenhouse or garden.
