RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch

The RSPB has revealed the annual Big Garden Birdwatch will return this month, giving the people of the UK the chance to take part in what has become the world’s largest wildlife survey.

The survey will take place over the weekend beginning on the 25th January, and will provide the RSPB with a crucial snapshot of the activities of our feathered friends.

The RSPB has been worried about the plummeting populations of winter birds in our gardens, so any information will be seen as beneficial for the conservation of some key species.

In 2013’s survey, almost 600,000 people took part in the survey, and counted nine million birds. Schools are also encouraged to take part, with 90,000 children and teachers joining in last year. The RSPB has also made free teacher’s packs available to help engage children and connect them with nature.
