Robin Hood territory the best for gardens in the UK
Nottingham is officially the jewel in the crown of British gardening after being awarded the title of Champion of Champions at the finals of Britain in Bloom.
In a ceremony that hosted 450 gardening enthusiasts, the city, which also won East Midlands in Bloom just two weeks ago, was heralded as the epicentre for quality gardening in the UK.
Councillor Malcolm Wood, who also chairs the Nottingham in Bloom working group, spoke of his delight at the citys success.
"I am thrilled to have received the award on behalf of the city," he said, accepting the award.
"It reflects the dedication, enthusiasm and achievement of thousands of people who play their part in making Nottingham look its best."
Other contenders for the grand prize were Darley, Heysham, St Ives, Alness and Carbis Bay, but Nottinghams very visible and impressive floral and sustainable planting displays and clean streets won the day.
