RHS to host autumn garden and greenhouse events

Garden and greenhouse growers who cultivate their own food will know that autumn is often harvest time.

With this in mind, the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) has decided to host a number of events celebrating the bounty achieved from working the land.

The first of these will take place at Somersets Pennard Plants, with Chris Smith presenting Harvest Home – The Joys of Autumn on October 17th.

Guests will see the experienced grower delve into the species that "make autumn a joy", the RHS explained.

He will distribute a range of planting tips, instructing garden and greenhouse fans on how to achieve their horticultural ambitions.

Another event will take place at Gloucestershires Painswick Rococo Garden from October 19th until November 1st.

Known as the Harvest Festival, the event will allow visitors to try recipes featuring freshly-picked fruit and vegetables, take in displays of heritage apples and have a go at making juice.

Meanwhile, the RHS recently asked users of its website to vote on their favourite entry for the Great British Garden Competition.
